It's July...

It's not long until Together On A Mission and Mobilise! Maybe (just maybe) I'll actually finish writing about last year's sessions before this year's conference... you never know.

At the moment I'm involved in a number of things which are keeping me rather busy... too busy for blogging it seems, though I wish this weren't the case.

Life Church Southampton is getting more and more exciting all the time. It's great to have the opportunity to be in the office a few days a week. I'm doing a combination of things which includes general administrating/planning (this is the main thrust of it), plus planning the student programme for the coming academic year, working on our church camp (with guest speaker Greg Haslam) over this August Bank Holiday, thinking about Wessex Bible Camp (a mini-Stoneleigh for our region of Newfrontiers churches for August Banck Holiday 2008), and I'm about to start co-leading a Life Group. So it's busy!

I'm trying to spend some time studying as part of my time with church. I'll be reading a chapter on Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology a week for the coming year, as well as going through John Stott's edition on 1 Timothy and Titus (of the Bible Speaks Today's series). In other reading I'm currently making my way through Bill Hybels's Just Walk Across The Room which was recommended vigorously by Lex Loizides at Front Edge North.

Newday is approaching (it feels almost as quickly as Mobilise!). This year I'm heading up the cafe part of Global Cafe (the BEST cafe... I'm in competition with Sarah D's Pink Cafe!) which is taking a lot of my time, but it is very fun and exciting! The team consists of people from Church Central in Birmingham, Winchester Family Church, but mostly they come from Life Church Southampton. It's gonna be a great team!

When I was at school I was part of the school Wind Band. Since I left, they've started a community band, so I've joined that on Monday nights... it's great to play some fun music again after the generally boring music of the band I was in in Sheffield (though they liked to think of themselves as a 'Wind Orchestra' - tells you all you need to know!).

So there's lots going on, and I haven't even talked about NewGen Books, nor have I started my job yet! Blogging must fit in there somewhere...

Finally saw the TOAM offering video at church on Sunday - a nice big view of your face made me chuckle!

Hope to finally meet face-to-face at some point at the end of next week!
